The mark of maturity is to always take the high road….No matter what kind of crap gets thrown your way. A person’s character is determined by one’s own interactions and reactions.
People have their own motivation for acting out the way they do; whether to impress someone else, or to feel more powerful. All you can do is remain proud of who you are & all that you have created. A good reputation goes a long way.
A helpful thing to remember is: “Don’t take things personally.” People are what they are. Their personalities have been molded by their own lives. You can choose to either retaliate, or just play along by standing your ground & being your own good self.
I have a few clients whom no one else can tolerate. I find things to like about them, I help them with their needs, and they become my friends (or at least repeat clients.) And they trust me. I simply see them as having “quirks”.
